Dreaming about 16 hours of sewing time for yourself - while someone else prepares lunch and 2 snacks each day!!  THIS RETREAT is for you.  Bring the project of your choice, get help when needed and use the well-stocked Sewing Classroom to help you create   OR   take advantage of the many kits available. 

        Class Descriptions

Sewing Open Lab (OL)

This is a course designed for the student wanting a workspace with sewing equipment.  This is a good course for someone who has completed Beginning Sewing and looking for individual help when needed. Open to all types of sewing and quilting projects.  Students are responsible for bringing their own sewing materials and supplies.  The sewing lab is well equipped with sewing machines, sergers, cutting tables and pressing equipment .

Sewing Intermediate/Open Lab is a continuation of the Beginning Sewing course and includes lectures and demonstrations (given at the beginning of the class) with the balance of the class for sewing. Topics include: Taking Proper Measurements, Understanding Fitting Ease, Pattern Alterations, Pattern Symbols and Layout, Pinning Know How – Cutting Knowledge, Threads and Needles, Stay Stitching and Seams.   Students will construct a project of their own choice.  Use of equipment and technique inquiries on individual sewing projects is given.  

Louise Cutting Blouse/Open Lab

Construct a Louise Cutting Blouse using one of the three chosen patterns - The Blouse Perfected, Timeless and Modern, Easy, Ageless, Cool using the sizing and sewing techniques demonstrated in class using the DVD The Blouse Perfected.

Altering Ready To Wear/Open Lab

This class is designed for the person who wants to make their garments fit better. Maybe you have lost or gained weight, your garments are too long or too short, you are short or long waisted..... this class is for you.  You will learn how to shorten or lengthen pants, skirts and dresses, change the waist to fit, how to replace a zipper plus the other alterations you bring to the class. This is a hands on class, so you will be able to put your newly learned skills into practice

Serger Class Description - Using your own Serger* you will learn how to thread your serger, adjust tensions, secure and lock seams as well as other basic information.  You will be making a serger workbook of the stitches and some quick projects.      *There are 4 sergers available to use in the lab – so if you do not have a serger and want to learn - reserve a serger for your   

       Have you had all your Covid Vaccines?                  Small class sizes of 10 students!

Air purifier in classroom and machines sanitized after each class. 

Masks are optional but may be required if Covid cases increase.

If you notify me prior to but no later than the beginning of the first class that you will not be able to make a class you can either choose to:

1.  make the class up in another class I am teaching.  OR

2.  have your class fee prorated.

Missed classes need to be made up during the dates of your original class.  Any class not made up during this time frame will be considered a forfeited class.

Payment is due no later than the first day of class unless you have made special arrangements with me.

                          Class Descriptions

 Beginning Quilting – Introduces you to the basics of quilting.  This is for the true beginner or the quilter wishing for a refresher class.  Students start at “square one” learning how to use a rotary cutter, ruler and tools of the quilting world.  Techniques for piecing different blocks and attaching borders will be taught while students make a project that may be used as a wall hanging or table runner.  Quilting and binding will be taught.  Basic sewing skills are required for this course.  Students provide fabric and basic quilting/sewing supplies. Supply list is given at the first class.

 Felted Wool -See how easy it is to turn your favorite old wool sweater into your new mittens, scarf, purse, baby booties, wall hangings, slippers, table runners, pin cushion plus many more.   Learn how to felt the wool sweaters prior to the transformations.   Come and see many different items made from felted wool.   This may become addictive! Kits will be available for purchase.  In the first class you will learn “How To” prepare your wool sweater for the many project ideas.

Sewing Individual Projects - is designed for Sewists of all levels.  Short demonstrations, lectures (given at the beginning of the class) and assistance is given to the student in all aspects of sewing. Students select their own projects. Students are responsible for bringing their own sewing supplies and notions.

Beginning Sewing – Introduces the basics of sewing.  Topics covered include operation of a sewing machine, familiarity with essential equipment, choosing and preparing a pattern (although done for you in this class), information on fabric and interfacing selection and construction of a Tote Bag.  This is a great refresher course.  Through lectures, demonstrations of techniques and individual help you will construct the project. 

Sewing Intermediate is a continuation of the Beginning Sewing course and includes lectures and demonstrations (given at the beginning of the class) with the balance of the class for sewing. During the summer months of July and August I am only having Open Labs so you are able to work on the project of your choice and get help.   Beginning in September I will be offering additional classes along with the Open Labs!  Let me know your interests for classes!
